Embedded Software Engineer

Would you like to develop software that works directly with hardware? Do you enjoy working on systems where timing, performance and reliability really matter?

As an Embedded Software Engineer at Stacker, you will work on projects in the high-tech sector in the Eindhoven region. You will develop software for technical systems such as robots, machines, vehicles and smart devices.

You will work closely with the hardware and contribute to technical choices, architecture and performance. You will do this together with software engineers, hardware engineers and other technical specialists.

What will you do?

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will develop software that controls hardware and makes technical systems work.

Depending on your experience and the project, you may work on:

  • Developing embedded software in C and C++.
  • Controlling microcontrollers, sensors and actuators.
  • Working with hardware interrupts and real-time systems.
  • Integrating AI and machine learning models.
  • Developing software in Embedded Linux, RTOS or bare-metal environments.
  • Analysing and solving complex hardware and software problems.
  • Improving performance, reliability and maintainability.
  • Testing, integrating and documenting embedded software.

You may work on applications such as:

  • AGVs and motion control systems.
  • IoT devices and charging solutions for electric vehicles.
  • Surgical robots and medical equipment.
  • High-tech production and automation systems.

Most projects last between one and three years. This gives you enough time to understand the system, take responsibility and see how your work contributes to the final product.

What are we looking for?

You have:

  • Experience with C and/or C++.
  • Experience with embedded systems and hardware control.
  • Knowledge of microcontrollers and hardware interrupts.
  • Experience with Embedded Linux, an RTOS and/or bare-metal development.
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude, Copilot, Cursor or ChatGPT.
  • An interest in real-time software, performance and system integration.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical field.
  • A proactive attitude and good communication skills.

Experience with tools and techniques such as Git, CI/CD, debugging, unit testing or communication protocols is a plus.

Do you not meet every requirement, but still think this role could be a good match? We would still be happy to meet you.
